Dallas Mavericks: 20-1

Here is a frightening idea, via Tim MacMahon of ESPNDallas.com:”You do not get any better than Rick Carlisle crime, however, Carlisle’s offense got better this offseason.”
Drink this one in.
Last year, Carlisle’s Mavs tied for second in the league with an offensive rating of 109, decimal points supporting the NBA-best Los Angeles Clippers, based on NBA.com. While the loss of continuous facilitator Jose Calderon and ace sniper will sting, Dallas brought to soften the blow. And a few possessions can be absorbed by Monta Ellis also, which will not be a terrible thing for the Mavs’ attack.
The major boost comes from Chandler Parsons, who will slot in small forward to absorb almost all of the wing minutes Shawn Marion and Vince Carter shared. Tyson Chandler mans the middle of what should be a better defense.
What Dallas has is delicate. It depends on the continuing and wellbeing potency of Dirk Nowitzki, around whom an offense that is elite may be built. Nowitzki is, himself, instead impressive, although that’s a remarkable thing to say about a participant.
Provided that he is ready to stand upright, he’ll be a defense-shredder from the post. And the rest of the Mavs will play him off as Carlisle pulls the strings from the seat.
Doubt this group of battle-tested vets in your own risk.
