Giro d’Italia winner Richard Carapaz to join Team Ineos for 2020

Giro d’Italia winner, Richard Carapaz will combine Team Ineos from the start of the 2020 season.
The Ecuadorian has consented a three-year deal and adds to an already impressive stable of riders which includes Tour de France winners Chris Froome, Geraint Thomas and Egan Bernal.
Team principal Sir Dave Brailsford – whose team have won seven of their last eight Tour de France names – stated:”He is clearly a great climber but also has great flexibility as he showed at the Giro before this year.
“He is still relatively young and I have no doubt that he can develop and improve even farther at Team Ineos.”
This season when he succeeded in the Giro, carapaz became the first rider to win some Grand Tour.
He said:”I am very excited about joining the team. I think this is a good opportunity for me to keep my development and expansion for a rider, working with a group which continues to go from strength to strength, year in, year out.
“I think I’ll fit into this class race and well to my full potential within the coming years. I would like to attain some amazing triumphs to get Team Ineos.”
Meanwhile, two-time grand tour champion Nairo Quintana is currently linking Arkea-Samsic on a deal.
Even the Giro, who won the Giro d’Italia in 2016 at the Vuelta and 2014, has also completed runner-up at the Tour de France.
