A Japanese comedy duo have apologised after they reportedly said Australian Open winner Naomi Osaka”needed some bleach” through a live event.
Japanese Osaka, 21, won her first Pan Pacific Open title in her hometown Osaka on Sunday – her first prize since January’s Melbourne win.
The duo, called’A Masso’, also reportedly said”she’s overly”.
Watanabe Entertainment, their management firm, states they’ve been cautioned following the opinions.
Both girls apologised for making”improper, hurtful opinions”, though they didn’t title two-time Grand Slam winner Osaka, who’s Haitian-Japanese.
“We sincerely apologise to creating the particular individual feel uneasy, as well as for everybody else joined to the event,” comic Ai Murakami explained.
“We sincerely apologise for causing difficulty. Though we ought to have thought about it, we created comments that hurt lots of people, something we’ll never do again.”
In January, Japanese noodle business Nissin was accused of”whitewashing” the mixed-race Osaka at a manga drawing.
Former world number one Osaka has been created when she was still young, before going to the United States.
