Sir Andrew Strauss returns to ECB as cricket committee chair

Former England captain Sir Andrew Strauss has been appointed chair of the England and Wales Cricket Board’s cricket .
The 42-year-old, who was knighted on Tuesday, was director of England championships in 2015 to 2018.
Strauss stepped down from the function to look after his wife, Ruth, who died in December of a rare type of lung cancer.
“The ECB have been a very important source of support within a very difficult season,” Strauss said.
“This is a true joy to return in this new capability.”
Included in his character, Strauss will track all levels of cricket in England and Wales to make sure a”thriving expert match in the heart of the game”.
As director of cricket,” Strauss aided overhaul the white-ball strategy, which saw them win their first men’s World Cup in July of England and named Trevor Bayliss as head coach.
He also established the Ruth Strauss Foundation to raise awareness and money about cancer after the passing of his wife.
“I’m extremely passionate about creating and developing cricket in England and Wales,” Strauss added.
“I have seen first-hand how this summer of cricket has motivated more people to fall in love with all the sport and I can’t wait to help build on its success.”
