Tokyo Olympic marathon moved over climate concerns

The International Olympic Committee has announced plans to proceed to the Tokyo 2020 marathon and race walking events over 800 kilometres south of the funding of Japan.
Organisers seem keen to avoid a repeat of what occurred at Doha, where half the field failed to complete the marathon of the women because of sweltering heat and humidity.
The host of the 1972 Winter Olympics, sapporo, could be five to six degrees warmer on average during the Games period of early August and mid-to-late July.
IOC president Thomas Bach said:Athletes health and well-being are always in the heart of our worries.
The new far-reaching proposals to maneuver the marathon and race walking events reveal just how seriously we take such concerns.
